Letters of Robert Browning and Elizabeth Barrett Barrett, Part 2
'Letters of Robert Browning and Elizabeth Barrett Barrett, Part 2' Summary
This second volume of the letters of Robert Browning and Elizabeth Barrett Barrett covers the period from January to May 1846, during which time their relationship deepened and they became engaged to be married. The letters are full of passion and excitement, as well as discussions of their work and their plans for the future. Barrett, in particular, is often playful and affectionate in her letters, and she clearly adores Browning. Browning, for his part, is more reserved, but he is equally smitten with Barrett. The letters also provide insight into the literary and social world of the time, and they offer a valuable glimpse into the lives of two of the most important poets of the Victorian era.Book Details
