'Lord Arthur Savile's Crime and Other Stories' Summary
Lord Arthur Savile's Crime and Other Stories is a collection of five short stories by Oscar Wilde. The title story is about a young man who believes he is destined to commit murder. He consults a palmist who tells him that he will indeed kill someone, but that he will get away with it. Lord Arthur then sets out to find someone to kill, but he soon realizes that it is not as easy as he thought. The other stories in the collection are also darkly humorous tales of crime and deception. "The Canterville Ghost" is about a family who moves into a haunted castle. The ghost tries to scare them away, but they are not afraid. "The Sphinx Without a Secret" is about a young woman who is trying to find out the secret of her past. "The Model Millionaire" is about a young man who pretends to be a wealthy philanthropist in order to win the heart of a woman. "The Portrait of Mr. W.H." is about a young man who believes he is the inspiration for the sonnets of William Shakespeare.Book Details
