'Lucia in London' Summary
Lucia and her husband George come into a legacy, enabling them to move into London's high society. She creates a salon to entertain literary celebrities. Meanwhile, Daisy Quantock, Lucia's rival, tries to expose her pretensions. Lucia attempts to appear cultured while trying to impress her idol, poet Algernon Giggle. Daisy infiltrates Lucia's group and creates mayhem. Lucia's attempts to appear erudite fail, and she eventually gives up, returning to Tilling. Daisy also leaves London. Lucia remains satisfied with her provincial life, relieved to be free of London's social pressures.Book Details
