Magnificent Ambersons (Growth Trilogy Vol 2)
'Magnificent Ambersons (Growth Trilogy Vol 2)' Summary
The story begins in the late 19th century, when the Ambersons are at the height of their wealth and power. George Amberson Minafer, the only son of the family, is a spoiled and arrogant young man who is more interested in appearances than in substance. His reckless and irresponsible behavior eventually leads to the family's downfall. As the automobile industry transforms the city and the country, the Ambersons' wealth and influence begin to decline. George is unable to adapt to the new realities of the 20th century, and he eventually loses everything. The novel ends with the Ambersons living in poverty, and George working as a streetcar conductor.Book Details
