'Milky Way' Summary
Vivian Lovel, a spirited Cornish artist, finds herself unexpectedly responsible for a baby after rescuing it from a sinking ship on her journey to London. She forms an unlikely partnership with Peter Whymperis, a charming actor and aspiring writer, and together they navigate the bohemian underbelly of London, seeking work and forging a bond amidst the chaos. Their escapades take them from the stage to a wax museum, a clandestine meeting with a fugitive, and a vibrant costume party. A chance encounter with a publisher leads to a commission to write and illustrate a travel book about Provence, a journey that rekindles Vivian's artistic passion and exposes her to the world of filmmaking. However, as Vivian falls deeper into the enchanting world of Provence, she must grapple with the complexities of love, loyalty, and artistic ambition. Will she choose the stability of a life in Cornwall, the allure of her friend Chloe's affections, or the whimsical romance with Peter, her faun-like companion?Book Details
