The tenth book of the Odyssey tells the tale of Odysseus' encounter with Aeolus, who offers him a bag of favorable winds to aid his journey. However, Odysseus' crew, driven by curiosity, open the bag, unleashing stormy winds that blow them off course. They land on the island of the Laistrygonians, a race of giant cannibals who devour Odysseus' men. He escapes this peril and lands on the island of Aeaea, ruled by the enchantress Circe, who transforms Odysseus' men into swine.
