Μία από τις πιο διάσημες περιπέτειες της Οδύσσειας είναι η συνάντηση του Οδυσσέα με τις Σειρήνες. Οι Σειρήνες ήταν γυναίκες-πουλιά που τραγουδούσαν τόσο όμορφα, που οι ναυτικοί που τις άκουγαν ξεχνούσαν τα πάντα και στρέφονταν προς αυτές, με αποτέλεσμα να ναυαγούν στα βράχια. Ο Οδυσσέας γνώριζε τον κίνδυνο και έταξε τους συντρόφους του στο κατάρτι του πλοίου, βάζοντας κερί στα αυτιά τους για να μη μπορούν να ακούσουν το τραγούδι των Σειρήνων. Ο ίδιος έδεσε τον εαυτό του στο κατάρτι για να μπορεί να ακούσει το τραγούδι, αλλά να μη μπορεί να κινηθεί προς τις Σειρήνες. Έτσι, κατάφερε να περάσει με ασφάλεια από αυτές.Book Details
