Mount Royal Volume III
'Mount Royal Volume III' Summary
Mount Royal Volume III is the final volume of a three-part mystery novel by Mary Elizabeth Braddon, first published in 1860. The novel tells the story of Marian Halcombe, a young woman who travels to the Canadian wilderness to investigate the mysterious death of her half-sister, Laura Fairlie. Marian soon discovers that Laura's death is not as simple as it seems, and she must unravel a web of lies and deceit in order to find the truth.
The novel picks up where Volume II left off, with Marian Halcombe racing against time to save her half-sister, Laura Fairlie, from her evil husband, Sir Percival Glyde. Marian has already uncovered Sir Percival's dark secrets, and she has saved Laura from his clutches once. But Sir Percival is not giving up without a fight. He will stop at nothing to get revenge on Marian and Laura, and he will not hesitate to kill anyone who gets in his way.
In Mount Royal Volume III, Marian must use all of her skills and cunning to outwit Sir Percival. She must also find a way to break through Laura's amnesia, which has been caused by Sir Percival's poisoning. Marian also teams up with Count Fosco, a mysterious Italian man who has his own reasons for wanting to see Sir Percival defeated.
The stakes are higher than ever in Mount Royal Volume III. Marian and Laura's lives hang in the balance, and the fate of the world may depend on them. In the end, Marian is successful in saving Laura and defeating Sir Percival. However, the novel ends with a sense of ambiguity. Marian is not sure if she has really defeated Sir Percival, or if he will come back to haunt her in the future.
Mount Royal Volume III is a suspenseful and exciting mystery novel. Braddon's writing is sharp and witty, and she creates a vivid and believable world for her characters to inhabit. The novel is full of twists and turns, and it will keep the reader guessing until the very end.
