Nebuly Coat
'Nebuly Coat' Summary
John Meade Falkner's 'Nebuly Coat' follows Westray, a young architect, as he arrives in Cullerne to oversee repairs on the town's minster. He becomes entangled in a web of mystery surrounding the recently inherited Blandamer estate. Westray's lodgings with a struggling gentlewoman and his friendship with the enigmatic Sharnall, the church organist, draw him into the heart of the intrigue. Sharnall's sudden death plunges Westray into a world of hidden secrets and whispers of a past shrouded in darkness. As Westray delves deeper into the mystery, he uncovers layers of hidden relationships, family secrets, and unsettling occurrences that challenge his understanding of the seemingly ordinary life of Cullerne. The novel explores themes of inheritance, social class, the weight of the past, and the unsettling consequences of hidden truths. 'Nebuly Coat' offers a gripping journey through the darkness of a rural English community where the line between reality and mystery becomes increasingly blurred.Book Details
