Pointed Roofs
'Pointed Roofs' Summary
Miriam Henderson, a young Englishwoman, travels to Germany to take up a teaching position at a girls' school. She is initially overwhelmed by the new culture and the strict regime of the school, but she gradually comes to appreciate the beauty of the German countryside and the warmth of her students. Miriam also forms close friendships with some of her fellow teachers, but she also experiences conflict with the formidable headmistress, Fraulein. The novel explores Miriam's inner life as she grapples with her feelings of loneliness, isolation, and longing for home. It also delves into the complex relationships between women and the ways in which they can support and empower each other.Book Details
