"Poor Blossom" by Edith Carrington is an autobiographical children’s story of a horse’s life from birth until death. The horse learns from his mother at a young age to be obedient to man and serve him patiently, a lesson he adheres to despite much provocation. Blossom’s tale is one of many owners and much ill-treatment, but without the happy ending that similar stories often have.
