The first story, "The Shot", tells the tale of two friends who duel over a woman. The second story, "The Blizzard", follows a young woman who gets lost in a snowstorm on her way to her wedding. The third story, "The Undertaker", is about an undertaker who falls in love with a young woman who is dying. The fourth story, "Miss Burmister", is about a young woman who is forced to marry a man she does not love.
