'Red Wallflower' Summary
In the quiet New England countryside, Esther, a motherless girl, lives a lonely existence with her dour father and two servants. Her days are filled with solitude and longing until she meets her neighbor, a bright and curious young man who becomes her intellectual companion. Together, they delve into the world of literature and ideas, filling the void in Esther's life. However, their happiness is shattered when the man's parents, determined to keep him away from Esther, send him away to college and eventually to England. Devastated by his absence, Esther grapples with the complexities of love, loss, and the search for fulfillment.
