The Rover was a weekly magazine published in 1843 by Seba Smith and Lawrence Labree. It featured original and selected tales, poetry, and engravings. The editors aimed for a high standard of quality in their selections. Every half-year, the 26 weekly issues were also published as a bound compilation. This particular issue contains six short stories, including a translation of Victor Hugo's narrative "Claude Gueux."
