The Seventh Man is a classic Western novel that explores the themes of vengeance, redemption, and family. The story follows Dan Barry, a gentle and caring man who is forced to seek revenge after his family is wronged. As he sets out to kill the seven men responsible, he is joined by his loyal wolf-dog, Black Bart, and his indomitable black stallion, Satan. Along the way, he meets Kate Cumberland and her young daughter, Joan, who provide him with a glimmer of hope amidst the darkness. Ultimately, it is his devotion to his daughter and Kate's love for the child that brings about the climax of the tale.
