The story centers around the discovery of strange tracks in the woods near Farmer Green's house. Rusty Wren, a curious bird, finds the tracks and everyone is puzzled about their origin. With Mr. Crow, the wise old owl, away on an excursion, the animals are left to try and figure out the mystery themselves.
