'Winning His Spurs: A Tale of the Crusades' Summary
Cuthbert, a fifteen-year-old boy from a small English village, longs for a life of adventure and honor. His chance comes when he saves the Earl of Evesham's daughter from a dangerous encounter. Impressed by his courage, the Earl hires Cuthbert as his page and takes him on the Third Crusade to the Holy Land. Cuthbert, eager to prove himself, serves with dedication and bravery. He experiences the hardships of war, witnesses acts of both heroism and cruelty, and develops a strong sense of loyalty and camaraderie with his fellow soldiers. Throughout his adventures, Cuthbert faces perilous situations, rescuing a princess from a besieged castle, and even taking on a dangerous mission to deliver a message to the King of England. His bravery and resourcefulness are tested, but he ultimately earns the respect of his peers and the recognition of his leader.
