Wise and Otherwise is a novel that tells the story of Immature Mr. Tresevant, a young pastor who comes to Newton with his spoiled wife. He is immediately challenged by the people of the town, including Dr. and Mrs. Douglass, Mr. and Mrs. Sayles, and Mr. and Mrs. Tyndall. These families are all well-respected members of the community, and they are not afraid to speak their minds. Mr. Tresevant quickly learns that he must change his ways if he wants to be successful in his new role. With the help of his wife and the people of the town, Mr. Tresevant eventually learns to become a wise and respected pastor.
