Aeneid, prose translation
by Virgil
'Aeneid, prose translation' Summary
The Aeneid is divided into two parts. The first six books tell the story of Aeneas' wanderings from Troy to Italy. After the fall of Troy, Aeneas and his followers set out to find a new home. They travel to Carthage, where Aeneas falls in love with Queen Dido. However, the gods command Aeneas to leave Carthage and continue his journey. Aeneas eventually arrives in Italy, where he faces many challenges, including a war with the local Latin tribes. The second half of the poem tells the story of the Trojan War upon the Latins. Aeneas and his allies ultimately defeat the Latins and establish a new city, which will eventually become Rome.Book Details
