Byzantine Empire

by Edward Foord

The Byzantine Empire, also known as the Eastern Roman Empire, was a powerful and influential civilization that lasted for over a thousand years. It was founded by Constantine the Great in 330 AD and reached its peak under Justinian I in the 6th century. The Byzantines were a major force in European and Mediterranean history, and their empire played a key role in the development of Christianity, art, and architecture. They were also known for their military prowess, and their armies were some of the most feared in the world.
