'Cádiz' Summary
La novela se desarrolla en el contexto del asedio francés a Cádiz durante la Guerra de la Independencia Española. Gabriel, un joven atractivo, se ve envuelto en una complicada situación amorosa con Inés, una mujer cuya libertad se ve limitada por los deseos de su familia. Inés está prometida a Diego de Rumblar, un hombre tonto, pero su destino podría cambiar si acepta la propuesta de Lord Gray, un apuesto inglés. Mientras tanto, Gabriel se ve dividido entre sus propios sentimientos por Inés y la necesidad de luchar contra la ocupación francesa. La trama se desarrolla en dos casas con diferentes visiones políticas: la casa de doña Flora, un espacio liberal, y la de doña María, un bastión conservador.
