Captives
'Captives' Summary
In the midst of a war between the Aetolians and Eleans, different individuals find themselves captured and held as prisoners. Philocrates, an Elean captive in Aetolia, is treated kindly by his captor, Hegio. However, Aristophontes, another Elean captive, is not as fortunate and faces harsh treatment. Meanwhile, Philopolemus, an Aetolian captive in Elis, is also treated with compassion by his captor, Philocrates. The play explores the complexities of war, the bonds that can form between captors and captives, and the ethical dilemmas that arise in such situations.Book Details
