'Chants de Maldoror' Summary
Les Chants de Maldoror est un roman poétique (ou un long poème en prose) composé de six chants. Il a été écrit entre 1868 et 1869 par le Comte de Lautreamont, le pseudonyme d'Isidore Lucien Ducasse. Le roman a été cité par de nombreux surréalistes du début du XXe siècle comme une source d'inspiration majeure pour leurs propres œuvres et Les Chants de Maldoror, ainsi que son protagoniste Maldoror, fascinent les lecteurs depuis sa publication. L'œuvre tourne autour du personnage misanthrope de Maldoror, une figure du mal absolu qui s'oppose à Dieu et à l'humanité, et qui a renoncé à tout lien avec la morale et la décence conventionnelles. L'imagerie et le ton iconoclastes sont généralement violents et macabres, et ostensiblement nihilistes.
