'Don Quichot van La Mancha' Summary
Don Quichot, een edelman uit La Mancha, heeft door het lezen van te veel ridderromans zijn verstand verloren. Hij beschouwt zichzelf als een dolende ridder en trekt de wereld in om onrecht te bestrijden en zijn geliefde Dulcinea del Toboso te vinden. Hij wordt vergezeld door zijn slimme en pragmatische knecht, Sancho Panza. Samen beleven ze allerlei avonturen, vaak met komische uitkomsten. Don Quichot verwart windmolens met reuzen, herbergiers met kastelen en eenvoudige boeren met tovenaars. Sancho Panza probeert zijn meester steeds terug te brengen naar de realiteit, maar Don Quichot blijft vastbesloten om zijn idealen te volgen. Ondanks zijn gebrek aan realiteitszin, toont Don Quichot een grote moed en oprechtheid. Hij verliest zijn gevechten, maar wint altijd in zijn hart. De roman is een tragikomische satire op de ridderromans, maar ook op de mensheid zelf.
