Guld og Ære
'Guld og Ære' Summary
Science fiction novel written by Otto Martin Møller in 1895. Based on the latest knowledge of physics and chemistry, a young Danish chemist named Erik Poulsen makes the epoch-making discovery of being able to transform any base metal into gold. Erik, who is not interested in money, but only in science, now believes he is able to make a name for himself among the greatest in world history. But none of the world's kingdoms and countries whose monetary systems are all based on the golden foot will accept a publication of the formula. Such a publication would quite simply cause a total collapse of the global economy. Instead of fame, Erik and his family now await a wild escape from one country to another in constant fear of the military and secret police of those in power.
