His Brother's Keeper
'His Brother's Keeper' Summary
Stuart Duncan, a young man from a wealthy family, returns home from college to find his father's mine facing a strike led by his childhood friend, Eric Vassal. Stuart, raised in privilege, is confronted with the stark realities of the miners' lives and the exploitation they face. The novel explores the complex dynamics of labor relations, the chasm between the wealthy and the working class, and the struggle for justice. As the strike intensifies, Stuart finds himself torn between his loyalty to his family and the mine, and his growing sympathy for the plight of the workers. Through his experiences, he embarks on a journey of self-discovery, grappling with the challenges of industrialization and the meaning of Christian responsibility. Stuart must choose between upholding the status quo and embracing a new sense of compassion and social justice. The novel culminates in a powerful exploration of the meaning of 'brotherhood' and the responsibility each individual has to those around them.Book Details
