His Brother's Keeper

His Brother's Keeper

by Charles Monroe Sheldon

In Charles Monroe Sheldon's novel, "His Brother's Keeper," Stuart Duncan returns home from college to a community facing a brewing labor strike at his father's mine. Stuart, a young man with a privileged upbringing, is confronted with the harsh realities of working-class life and the injustices faced by the miners. The strike is led by Eric Vassal, a childhood friend who now represents the workers' demands for better conditions. Stuart grapples with his loyalty to his family and the mine, as well as his conscience and the plight of the workers. Through this conflict, he learns the true meaning of Christian brotherhood and the importance of social responsibility.
