Die Geschichte spielt in einem abgelegenen Gebirgstal, wo die beiden Waisen Eva und Peter von der Außenwelt getrennt sind. Sie finden Zuflucht in einer Höhle und müssen lernen, wie die Menschen in der Urzeit überlebt haben. Eva und Peter entdecken die Kraft des Feuers, finden Nahrung in ihrer Umgebung und lernen, einfache Werkzeuge, Waffen und Kleidung herzustellen. Mit dem Fortschritt der Zeit entwickeln sie neue Techniken und erleben die Entwicklung der Menschheit von der Steinzeit über die Bronzezeit bis zur Eisenzeit.
