Nancy 'Nance' Olden, a young woman hardened by a cruel upbringing in an orphanage, is a skilled liar and thief. Along with her criminal boyfriend, Tom Dorgan, she pulls a con that goes awry, propelling her into a series of events she could never have imagined. Nance finds herself on the run, pursued by both the law and Dorgan's vengeful associates. Desperate, she seeks refuge with a kind-hearted bishop, who offers her protection and a chance to change her life. However, Nance's past continues to haunt her, and she must confront her own demons while navigating the treacherous path between right and wrong.
