'Jolanthes Hochzeit' Summary
Der Freiherr von Hanckel, ein älterer, wohlhabender Junggeselle, verspricht seinem sterbenden Freund, sich um dessen Sohn Lothar zu kümmern. Um Lothars wirtschaftliche Probleme zu lösen, begibt sich Hanckel zum Gutsherrn Krakow von Krakowitz, mit dem sein Freund seit Jahren einen erbitterten Rechtsstreit führt. Dort trifft er auf Krakows bildschöne Tochter Jolanthe und verliebt sich augenblicklich in sie. Trotz des großen Altersunterschieds scheint Jolanthe von Hanckel angetan zu sein, und bald wird ihre Hochzeit geplant. Doch Krakows unversöhnlicher Hass auf Hanckel überschattet das Glück des Paares und richtet sich nun auch gegen Lothar. Hanckel fühlt sich zunehmend überfordert von der Situation und verliert die Kontrolle über die Ereignisse. Auf der Hochzeitsfeier kommt es schließlich zur Begegnung zwischen Jolanthe und Lothar, die alles verändert.Book Details
