Lady Bridget in the Never-Never Land
'Lady Bridget in the Never-Never Land' Summary
Lady Bridget O'Hara, an Englishwoman scorned in love, accepts an invitation to travel to colonial Australia as a companion to the wife of the newly-appointed governor. In the rugged outback, she meets Colin McKeith, a Scottish pioneer who captures her heart. Despite their contrasting backgrounds, they marry and embark on a life together, facing the challenges of the unforgiving landscape, labor shortages, and the plight of Indigenous Australians. Their relationship is further strained when Bridget's former lover, Willoughby Maule, visits, reopening old wounds and testing their bond. Through their journey, the novel explores themes of love, adventure, cultural differences, and the complexities of colonial Australia.Book Details
