by Daniel Defoe
'Lotgevallen van Robinson Crusoë' Summary
Robinson Crusoë, a young Englishman driven by a thirst for adventure, embarks on a voyage to the East Indies. However, a fierce storm shipwrecks his vessel, leaving him stranded on a desolate island. Determined to survive, Crusoe uses his ingenuity and resourcefulness to create a life for himself. He builds a shelter, cultivates crops, tames animals, and even constructs a canoe. His isolation is interrupted by the arrival of Friday, a native he rescues from cannibalistic tribesmen. Together they form a bond, with Crusoe teaching Friday English and Christian beliefs. Through their shared experiences, Crusoe learns valuable lessons about the power of human resilience and the importance of compassion. After years of isolation, Crusoe is finally rescued by a passing ship, returning to England a changed man, forever marked by his experiences on the island.Book Details
