Michael Strogoff, een loyale koerier van de Tsaar, krijgt de opdracht om een belangrijke brief naar zijn broer, de Grootvorst van Irkoetsk, te brengen. De reis is echter gevaarlijk, want de vijanden van de Tsaar, onder leiding van de sluwe Ivan Ogareff, proberen de Tsaar te ondermijnen en de macht in Rusland te grijpen. Michael reist door Siberië en wordt al snel gedwongen om zijn identiteit geheim te houden om zijn missie te voltooien. De vijanden achtervolgen hem, en hij moet voortdurend voor zijn leven vluchten. Hij ontmoet Nadia, een jong meisje dat hem helpt en verliefd op hem wordt. Samen proberen ze de vijanden te ontwijken en de brief op tijd te bezorgen. Michael Strogoff is een spannend avontuur dat de lezer meeneemt naar de uitgestrekte landschappen van Siberië en de gevaarlijke intriges van het Russische hof.
