Mistress Of The Inn (La Locandiera)

Mistress of the Inn (La locandiera)

by Carlo Goldoni

Mistress of the Inn is a witty and charming comedy that explores the themes of love, wealth, and nobility. The story centers around Mirandolina, a beautiful and independent innkeeper who is pursued by three very different men: the wealthy Count D'Albafiorita, the impoverished Marquis di Forlipopoli, and the misogynistic Cavalier di Ripafratta. As the men vie for Mirandolina's affections, they debate the relative merits of their own social positions and beliefs. Mirandolina, however, is not interested in any of their superficial qualities. She is looking for a man who will love and respect her for who she is, not what she has.
