Le juge Martin, un homme opiniâtre, est chargé d'enquêter sur la mort mystérieuse d'un milliardaire américain, John Harris, et de sa famille, retrouvés sans vie dans leur villa parisienne. L'affaire s'avère particulièrement complexe, le mobile et l'identité du meurtrier restant inconnus. C'est alors que Nounlegos, un scientifique reclus et brillant, se présente au juge avec une proposition inattendue : il a mis au point un appareil capable de lire les pensées, un dispositif qui pourrait dévoiler la vérité cachée derrière les apparences. Intrigué, Martin accepte de collaborer avec Nounlegos, mais l'utilisation de cette technologie soulève des questions éthiques et morales. Au fil de leur enquête, le juge et le scientifique découvrent un réseau de mensonges, de manipulations et de secrets qui s'étend bien au-delà de la famille Harris.
