Ichikuro, a samurai filled with resentment, murders his master and flees Edo with his beloved. They resort to thievery to survive, but Ichikuro's thirst for vengeance remains unquenched. Seeking solace, he becomes a Buddhist priest and begins excavating a tunnel near the riverbank.
