'Uninhabited House' Summary
The novel opens with our hero, Gilbert Markham, a junior clerk sent to investigate the mysterious death of Richard Steele at the strange, but well-furnished house called River Hall. Although Steele appeared to die of natural causes, there was something suspicious about the circumstances of his demise. As Gilbert delves deeper into the mystery, he uncovers a dark and twisted secret. Steele had been murdered, and his ghost is now determined to find his killer. Gilbert teams up with Steele's beautiful but enigmatic widow, Marian, to solve the crime. As they work together, the two become drawn to each other, but their love is forbidden. Marian is still grieving for her husband, and Gilbert is engaged to another woman. Despite the obstacles, their passion grows stronger. Together, Gilbert and Marian must overcome the ghost of Richard Steele, a vengeful spirit seeking revenge. They must solve the mystery of his death and bring his killer to justice. Only then can they find peace and happiness together.Book Details
