Questo libro raccoglie due racconti di Oscar Wilde: "Il fantasma di Canterville" e "Il Delitto di Lord Savile". Nel primo, un fantasma che risiede in un castello in Inghilterra incontra una famiglia americana moderna e pragmatica, portando a situazioni divertenti e irriverenti. Nel secondo racconto, un lord inglese si trova preda di una profezia oscura: sarà destinato a commettere un omicidio. Per sfuggire al suo destino, il lord intraprende un percorso irto di ostacoli per compiere un crimine 'gentile', ma le sue azioni lo portano a conseguenze imprevedibili.
