'Wasted Day' Summary
The story is set in New York City in the early 1900s. The protagonist, John Gray, is a successful banker on Wall Street. He is wealthy and respected, but he is also arrogant and self-centered. One day, one of Gray's former employees, James Wilson, is arrested for embezzlement. Gray is initially reluctant to help Wilson, but he eventually agrees to vouch for his character. Gray's act of kindness changes Wilson's life. Wilson is acquitted of the charges and he is able to get a new job.
