La novella "Scialle Nero" segue la storia di un uomo, Lauro, che è ossessionato da una donna misteriosa che indossa uno scialle nero. La sua ossessione si trasforma in una paranoia che lo consuma completamente, finché non scopre la verità sconvolgente dietro la donna e lo scialle.
