Dorian Gray, un jeune homme d'une beauté exceptionnelle, conclut un pacte avec un peintre mystérieux. En échange de son âme, il est accordé la jeunesse éternelle, tandis que son portrait reflète les péchés et les décadences qu'il commet au fil des années. Dorian, fasciné par son apparence inchangée, se livre à une vie de plaisirs et de dépravations. Le portrait, quant à lui, se transforme de plus en plus en une image déformée et horrifique, reflétant la détérioration de son âme. Le roman explore la dualité de l'homme, le pouvoir de l'apparence et les conséquences du vice. Au fil de son existence, Dorian est tourmenté par la conscience de sa corruption intérieure, sa beauté extérieure contrastant avec la laideur de son âme.
