Eye Of Dread

Eye of Dread

by Payne Erskine

Set against the backdrop of the American Civil War, "Eye of Dread" tells the story of three young people whose lives are forever intertwined by the conflict. Betty Ballard, a young woman who comes of age during the war, finds herself torn between two men: Peter Junior, a wounded soldier who becomes an artist, and Richard Kildene, a railroad worker who returns home from the war expecting to find Betty waiting for him. As the war rages on, the characters must navigate the complexities of love, loss, and betrayal, while also coming to terms with the devastating impact of the war on their lives and their country.
