'Eye of Dread' Summary
The Civil War rages on, and the young men of Leauvite have been sent away to fight. Among them are Peter Junior and Richard Kildene. Betty Ballard is just a child when they leave, but by the time the war ends, she has become a young woman. Peter Junior, wounded in the war, finds himself at Betty's father's studio, learning to become an artist. He falls in love with Betty and proposes to her, planning to take her to France with him. Meanwhile, Richard, who has been working on the railways, returns home expecting to find Betty waiting for him. However, Betty is now in love with Peter Junior, and Richard is devastated. As the war continues, the characters must navigate the complexities of love, loss, and betrayal, while also coming to terms with the devastating impact of the war on their lives and their country.Book Details
