Oliver's Bride

by Margaret O. Oliphant

This is Zoey Ebron and Oliver Gentry's story, and the character development is excellent. Zoey's stepfather insists she must marry her stepbrother when he is released from prison and to make sure she does he locks her in a room. Zoey makes plans to escape and become a MOB to a widower with a small daughter. When Zoey escapes and arrives she finds her groom has died. Oliver is the town sheriff and Zoey's intended groom was his brother. He now has the responsibility for the child and hasn't a clue what to do with her. He proposes a marriage of convenience to Zoey and she accepts.
