'sala numero 6' Summary
In the dilapidated Ward No. 6 of a provincial hospital, Dr. Ragin, the indifferent head physician, presides over a realm of squalor and neglect. Driven by philosophical musings that absolve him of responsibility, he turns a blind eye to the suffering of his patients. Among them is Ivan Gromov, a former philosophy teacher whose lucid moments challenge Ragin's stoic detachment. As the line between sanity and madness blurs, Ragin's own past traumas resurface, leading to his gradual unraveling and ultimate confinement within the very walls he once ruled. Through a cast of unforgettable characters, Chekhov exposes the dehumanizing effects of institutionalization and the fragility of the human psyche.Book Details
