'Vegetable; or, From President to Postman' Summary
Jerry Frost, a middle-aged railway clerk, feels trapped by his ordinary life. He dreams of achieving the American Dream, of wealth, power, and a place in the White House. After a night of heavy drinking, Jerry falls into a drunken fantasy, imagining himself as the President of the United States. In this fantastical realm, Jerry faces a series of absurd situations and characters, all satirical reflections of the political climate of the 1920s. He encounters corrupt politicians, ambitious advisors, and a public obsessed with celebrity and scandal. However, Jerry's dream presidency crumbles under the weight of its own absurdity, leaving him to face the harsh realities of his ordinary life.
