Art Of Cookery Made Plain And Easy
'Art Of Cookery Made Plain And Easy' Summary
The Art of Cookery, Made Plain and Easy is a cookbook written by Hannah Glasse and first published in 1747. The book is a compilation of recipes typical for British meals produced in the kitchens of the more affluent classes in the 1700s. Glasse's intent was to instruct the lower sort in their own way, by writing in a practical, no-nonsense manner that instills confidence in anyone who follows her recipes and advice. The book contains over 900 recipes, covering everything from soups and stews to pies and puddings. Glasse also includes sections on preserving food, making wine, and brewing beer. The Art of Cookery, Made Plain and Easy was a huge success, and it remained in print for over a century. It is still considered one of the most important cookbooks in the English language.Book Details
